Forklift Battery Care: Maintaining Performance in Hot Global Climates
Cold weather gets a lot of attention. Hot climates deserve just as much. Battery life drops faster in heat, and buyers in the Middle East, Africa, South Asia, and parts of Latin America learn that quickly.
Heat accelerates battery aging. For lead-acid batteries, high ambient temperature increases water loss and shortens service life if topping-up discipline is poor. For lithium batteries, sustained heat stresses the cells and the battery management system, especially when charging happens in unventilated rooms.
The first rule is simple: do not charge in the hottest sealed corner of the building. Airflow matters. Shade matters. Charger matching matters. If your site regularly sits above 35°C, battery care is an operational issue, not a maintenance footnote.

Buyers running hotter environments often choose lithium on machines like the CPD-20 or CPD-30 because opportunity charging helps avoid deep discharge cycles. But lithium is not immune to heat abuse. You still need clean charging habits and protected storage.
A badly managed battery in a hot warehouse will not usually fail dramatically. It just loses runtime month by month until everyone notices the forklift cannot finish a shift. That slow decline is expensive because it hides in normal operations.
Treat temperature like part of the spec, not part of the weather.
