Remote Mower Range: Understanding Signal Distance on Professional Sites
The spec sheet says 300 meters remote control range. That sounds like plenty. And it is, in most situations. But there’s a practical gap between the number on the page and what happens on an actual work site.
Radio frequency and terrain interact. The 2.4GHz frequency used in our remote systems travels through air efficiently in open conditions. What it doesn’t do well: penetrate dense vegetation, reflect around solid obstacles, or maintain full signal through wet foliage. On a heavily wooded slope, your effective operating distance might be closer to 150–200 meters before signal starts degrading.
This isn’t a flaw—it’s physics. The solution is positioning. Operators who keep a clear line-of-sight to the machine, even while staying at a safe distance, get the full rated range. Moving to a higher vantage point opens up range on sloped terrain.

300 meters covers most commercial applications. A football field is about 100 meters. A large roadside embankment job typically doesn’t require you to stand more than 80–120 meters from the machine to maintain sightline. The 300-meter rating on machines like the SN-1000B and SN-1100D provides meaningful margin for challenging terrain.
Emergency stop works at full range. This matters more than the cruise control and speed functions. If something unexpected happens—machine hits an obstruction, starts sliding, debris ejection toward a bystander—the emergency stop needs to work instantly. In testing, our units trigger stop response within milliseconds at rated range under open conditions.
Control ergonomics matter on a long shift. A remote that’s awkward to hold for 4–6 hours causes fatigue. Our 2.4G controllers are designed for single-hand operation of basic functions (steering, speed) with two-hand confirmation for higher-risk commands (blade engagement, emergency stop). Operators who test the controller for 30 minutes before a first job site deployment understand the layout before they need it under pressure.
